The Goldsteig is a 660-kilometer long predicate hiking trail through the Bavarian and Upper Palatinate Forest. It begins in Marktredwitz in the Steinwald forest and runs over the lovely landscape towards Weiden. It touches some castles and many villages.
Near the Kulzer Moos near Neunburg vorm Wald the path divides. The northern route goes towards the Czech border and along this border it touches all known mountains along the Bavarian-Bohemian border down to Passau.
The southern tangent, on the other hand, leads over the heights along the Danube and is particularly attractive due to the numerous views down to the Alps. The route leads from Passau over the mountain ranges near Deggendorf, near Bischofsmais and Wörth a. D. Danube further towards Falkenstein and finally to the main route near Neunburg vom Wald.
In addition, numerous secondary routes lead again and again to the main routes
