The Gibacht

The Gibacht, Furth im Wald's local mountain, can be considered an insider's tip, although it is becoming increasingly popular. As a broad mountain it invites you to extensive hiking tours. An appropriate circular route leads the hiker or cross-country skier past a whole handful of highlights. For example, there is the Pfennig Rock, the summit cross on the highest point (938 meters), the Three Coats of Arms directly on the border to the Czech Republic, the glass cross with a view of Furth and the Further depression and the Lighthouse of Justice. You can start this tour from the village of Althütte. It can be reached via the panorama road from Furth or via Waldmünchen. On the Further side you will also find a golf course and a ski run with a drag lift at the so-called Voithenberg. Since the border is open, you can continue your hike in the Bohemian countryside, for example to the Cerchow, at various places.
